A hail of gunfire lit up a block in northeast Reading over the weekend, with one house sustaining the brunt of the bullets, city police said Thursday. Officers recovered more than 60 bullet cartridges in the 1100 block of Marion Street after responding about 4 a.m. Saturday for a report of gunfire.

An SUV hit and killed a pedestrian on Washington Road (Route 19) in Peters Township, Washington County, on Monday night. The coroner said the victim was struck in the southbound lane near 4150 Washington Rd. at about 7:50 p.m. and was pronounced dead at Canonsburg Hospital about an hour later.
