A 47-year-old man is recovering in the hospital after he was shot and wounded early Sunday morning in North Philadelphia. The incident led to a barricade situation at a nearby residence. Police and fire crews responded to a 911 call reporting a fire at 16xx Fontain Street at approximately 10:43 p.m. The Philadelphia Fire Department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire by 11:08 p.m. Upon extinguishing the fire, firefighters discovered the body of a 70-year-old Black male inside the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:10 p.m.
